PROFIT SOLUTIONS - LEAN CABINET MANUFACTURING WITH ART RAYMOND

Over 70 people joined Delmac at our Greensboro facility November 6 and 7th for our Profit Solutions Seminar on Lean Flow Cabinet Manufacturing. Art Raymond, a well-known industry consultant, gave an overview of how to implement Lean Manufacturing by recognizing areas of waste and inefficient production methods. He explained why setting up equipment in a way to eliminate bottlenecks and achieving a smooth work flow will increase production and reduce the amount of floor space required for manufacturing, giving manufacturers the ability to provide a higher quality product at a lower cost.

To demonstrate this process, Delmac simulated a lean flow layout. This layout featured a Busellato Router with it’s new Linear load/unload system, IDM Edgebander with quick changeover between 3mm and thin tape, OMAL CNC Bore and Dowel machine and Bonacin Electronic Case Clamp. This machinery was set up to demonstrate LEAN MANUFACTURING and the impact of machinery placement on production efficiency. This system is capable of 70 cabinets per day and took less than 2000 sqft.

Tooling expert Ted Ford from Onsrud Cutter presented tooling tips, techniques and discussed challenges unique to Nested-Based Machining. In addition, Addison Maille of Smith Leonard Accounting discussed Tax Stimulus Legislation and the available provisions for getting the most benefits out of Section 179 and the 50% bonus depreciation write-offs which are set to expire.
